Current Day Concerns & Parallels
Communities targeted as “the enemy” during WWII know the dark side of what has been done in the name of national security—not just the mass internment of both US citizens and immigrants of Japanese ancestry--but, also the human impact of civil and human rights violations endured by Japanese, German and Italian American and Latin American communities from right after the attack on Pearl Harbor, through the years of exclusion, internment and deportation, and its continuing effect to this day on our succeeding generations.
Now more than ever, we must look to our nation’s history, especially the past and current experiences of communities who are targeted as “the enemy.” The EAF Consortium invites you to join us in documenting, preserving, and interpreting these hidden stories of WWII and in drawing lessons and insights from our past so as to better understand and resolve the challenges confronting us today.
